The Hawke's Bay Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club is located in Hawke's Bay, NZ.
Te Mata Peak is the clubs main flying site. According to Māori legend the peak is the final resting place of Te Mata o Rongokako, the grandfather of Kahungunu, the founder of the Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi.
The Peak is part of a limestone escarpment with several paraglider launch sites plus two hang gliding ramps. Te Mata Peak is great for ridge soaring, thermalling or xc flying.
Burma Road is a fun inland site. It is located on a long ridge so is ideal for soaring and thermalling plus xc flying when conditions allow.
Other sites can be accessed in the Hawke’s Bay from the coast to the ranges.
Most of our sites have special conditions associated with flying there; so contact MUST be made with the club before flying.
